Privacy Policy

Menieres Biometrics ("the App") is developed by Menieres Biometrics LLC. This privacy policy explains how the App handles your data.

Data Storage

All hearing test results, events, diary entries, and settings are stored locally on your device using an on-device database. Your data is not uploaded to any external server by default.

Data You Can Export

The App provides CSV and PDF export features so you can save or share your data at your discretion. Exported files are created on your device and shared only through actions you initiate (e.g., email, cloud storage).

Weather Data

If you enable the optional weather tracking feature, the App requests your approximate location (coarse location) to fetch weather observations from the MET Norway API. Your location coordinates are sent to this third-party API solely to retrieve weather data. Location coordinates are cached on-device to reduce network requests. No location data is stored on any server controlled by Menieres Biometrics.

Firebase Services

The App uses Google Firebase for the following purposes:

• Firebase Analytics — collects anonymous usage statistics (e.g., feature usage counts) to help improve the App. No personally identifiable information, test results, or health data is collected.
• Firebase Crashlytics — collects crash reports containing only technical information (stack traces, device model, OS version, app version). No personal information, test results, or health data is included in crash reports.

Both services are gated behind a single consent toggle. Users in the EEA, United Kingdom, and Switzerland must opt in before any data is sent. In other regions analytics and crash reporting are enabled by default but can be disabled at any time in the App's Settings screen.

Permissions

The App may request the following permissions:

• Microphone — not used. The App generates test tones through the speaker; it does not record audio.
• Coarse Location — used only when weather tracking is enabled, to fetch local weather data.
• Notifications — used to deliver optional weather pressure-change alerts.
• Internet — used to fetch weather data and communicate with Firebase services.

Third-Party Services

The App integrates the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

• Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics)
• MET Norway (weather data)

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Data Retention and Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data. You can also delete individual test results and events from within the App.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
